Fertilizing and Weed Control Services

At Branching Out, we believe in quality over shortcuts. That’s why we use premium Advanced Turf Solutions granular fertilizer for long-lasting, deep-rooted lawn health—no “one-size-fits-all” solutions here. With over 30 years of experience, our Turf Manager Dave Goodin customizes each treatment to tackle weeds, grubs, poor soil, and more. Our five-step program feeds your lawn slowly and steadily through every season, keeping it greener, healthier, and stronger—without the quick fade or runoff of liquid fertilizers.

The Branching Out Difference

At Branching Out, we use only premium, commercial-grade Advanced Turf Solutions granular fertilizer—because your lawn deserves the best. This slow-release formula promotes deep root growth and delivers steady, long-lasting nourishment over several weeks. Sure, we could cut corners with cheaper products, but we’re more interested in keeping our customers happy and their lawns thriving.

Granular fertilizer gives us the ability to customize treatments based on your lawn’s specific needs. It stays in place, doesn’t wash away, and ensures your yard gets exactly what it needs for healthy, vibrant growth—not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Leading the charge is our Turf Manager, Dave Goodin, who brings over 30 years of experience and a proven track record of tackling everything from crabgrass and grubs to mold, moles, nutgrass, and more. If there’s a lawn issue, Dave has a solution.

Our premium 5-step program includes:

  1. Early Spring – Crabgrass pre-emergent with fertilizer
  2. Late Spring – Broadleaf control with fertilizer
  3. Summer – Grub control with fertilizer
  4. Fall – Broadleaf control with fertilizer
  5. Winter – Fertilizer to promote early spring growth

We tailor each step to your lawn’s condition, ensuring maximum results. Plus, we offer full tree and shrub care, including treatments for emerald ash borer, bagworms, Japanese beetles, fungus, and whatever new pests might show up this season.

The Advantages of Granular Fertilizer

  1. Granular fertilizer breaks down slowly over time, giving your lawn a longer, controlled feeding for several weeks. This means initial green-up takes a little longer, but the results last much longer.

  2. Granular products come in a huge assortment of blends, so instead of a one size fits all approach; products can be customized to fit your lawn’s precise needs.

  3. You’ll need fewer applications. A properly selected granular fertilizer can accomplish in 3-4 applications what would take 5-6 applications for a liquid fertilizer to accomplish.

  4. Fertilizer and pesticides are not mixed together in one tank, so the pesticide goes where needed.

  5. Because the granules are released slowly over time, there’s no runoff.

The Disadvantages of Granular Fertilizer

  1. You’ll have to wait a bit longer to see your lawn green up, but it is worth it.

  2. A lawn care service may be at your home longer if you get both fertilizer and pesticide because they’ll need to make two sweeps over your lawn.

  3. Granular has to be watered in within 14 days of application, either by rainfall or irrigation.

The Advantages of Liquid Fertilizer

  1. The nutrients are right there in the solution, immediately available to your grass. That means you’ll see a quick green-up — within days of application — and a quick spurt of growth.

  2. Cheaper to buy and there’s no cleanup of loose granules. Spray and go.

The Disadvantages of Liquid Fertilizer

  1. The nutrients soak into your lawn fast, but that also means they don’t last as long. Those quick results you see will soon fade. That’s why you’ll notice that lawn care companies who use liquid fertilizer will recommend more frequent applications to keep those green results going.

  2. Pesticides may be mixed in with your liquid fertilizer for one-step ease of application. That means they’ll be applied over your entire lawn, even on areas that may not need it.

  3. Some of the fertilizer may run off and not make it into your soil.

  4. Liquid fertilizer is applied with a hose. If it’s windy the liquid can spray off missing your lawn.
